Before you can learn to drive, you must be 17 or older and have a provisional driving licence.
You can apply for the provisional licence by completing the DL1 application form that is available from main Post Office branches, Local Vehicle Licensing Offices or direct from the DVA by calling 08455 402 4000. When completed, it will need to be sent to

The Theory Test is a computer based test that assesses the candidate for :

The test is split into two parts. The first consists of a multiple choice question section. To pass this part you must answer 43 out of 50 questions correctly. The second part is the hazard perception test. The pass mark for this part of the test is 44 out of 75. Candidates must pass both parts of the test to obtain a test certificate.
